This year, Halloween day was a little crazy. I should have dressed up like a chicken with my head cut of, because that's how I felt.
All the boys had costume parties at school, and I was trying to get our traditional sugar cookies baked, and they were flopping. And work which has been slow all week, got really busy, and getting the house cleaned for our Party, and the grade school has a parade outside where all of the kids parade around the play ground area for all of the parents. I was running non stop all day. Luckily Tyler was able to get off early and help me get everything pulled together.
Boys at the Parade.
I think I love the stuff leading up to Halloween, but the actual day is not my favorite. It's so hectic and all the kids want to do is eat candy. Ahhh! But we tried to make it fun for the boys.
I decided to make homemade rootbeer at the last minute. So I ran to the grocery store and got the stuff. The boys loved it. They usually don't get to see the part where the dry ice is really smoking and so I made sure they were all around when we put it in. Preston and Mason especially loved it.We had my family over and we did the traditional Navaho Tacos. Tyler made the scones and they were yummy. My nephew Spencer that is 14, and his friend, took my boys Trick or Treating. Which was so nice, we were trying to get everything done, and ready for dinner and they were being so patient. So it was nice to have an older cousin that could take them out. And they had lots of fun.
As the night was winding down, we all ended up on the front porch, enjoying the unusually warm night. It was so perfect. Not cold, but not hot. I don't remember a Halloween like that ever.
After every one went home, the boys sorted their candy and we all watched J0urney to the Center of the Earth.
It turned out to be a great day.

Glad to see you and the boys enjoy (hectic) Halloween. Homemade rootbeer is the best. And now I want a Navajo taco.
You are so funny...and I totally agree. I get myself some great costume and never wear it because I am too tired and want it to be over.
Glad you survived the sugar day. I can see how it would be a bit stressful with the amount of stuff you have going on with three kids. PHEW! I guess I should be thankful for my quiet Halloween evening and enjoy it while I can.
I know exactly what you mean! Halloween is fun with all the activities and decorating all the way up to the DAY OF, and then pandemonium.
Loved the SMOKING rootbeer. I remembered your traditional sugar cookie thing from last years post.
I blame it on the sugar rush.
Glad you had family traditions to get together though. We Powells don't really do that kind of thing at Halloween.
(Blame it on the busyl soccer season for both our families here)
Glad you all had a great Halloween, and kudos to you for making it so fun for your boys!
